Jammu, June 5: The Jammu & Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Nazir Ahmed Wani, a retired Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA) Department, Banihal, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The FIR, numbered 02/2025, has been filed under sections 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), at Police Station ACB Doda.

According to an official press release, the case was initiated after a secret verification conducted by the ACB revealed that Wani had acquired moveable and immovable assets in his name and in the names of his close family members that are not justified by his lawful income.

The verification found substantial properties including a residential house at Gujjar Nagar in Jammu, a double-storey house at Maitra Ramban, and a residential complex along with three commercial shops located at Chareel in Banihal. In addition, several vehicles, financial documents, and other valuable possessions were uncovered.

On receiving legal clearance, a search operation was carried out at Wani’s property on the Old National Highway Road in Chareel, Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban. The operation was conducted in the presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses, ensuring transparency.

The ACB has confirmed that further investigations are underway to trace the exact value and sources of the alleged disproportionate assets.
