In a significant diplomatic gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Lee Jae-myung on his victory in the South Korean presidential election. Taking to social media, PM Modi conveyed his best wishes and stated that he looks forward to working closely with the new leadership in Seoul.
“Look forward to working together to further expand and strengthen the India-ROK Special Strategic Partnership,” Modi posted.
Lee Jae-myung’s election marks a new chapter in South Korea’s domestic and foreign policy. His leadership is expected to bring renewed momentum to bilateral ties with India, especially in areas like trade, technology, culture, and regional security.
The India-Korea relationship was elevated to a “Special Strategic Partnership” in 2015, underlining their shared values and growing economic cooperation. Modi’s swift outreach is being seen as a proactive move to strengthen diplomatic bonds in the Indo-Pacific region.
