Las Vegas/New Delhi, June 8:
World-renowned TikTok star Khaby Lame, who boasts over 162 million followers, was briefly detained by U.S. immigration authorities in Las Vegas on Thursday over a visa overstay issue, according to official sources.
The 25-year-old Italian national was stopped by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Harry Reid International Airport while preparing to board a flight. Authorities confirmed that Lame had overstayed his permitted duration in the country, triggering a brief detainment.
Lame, best known for his silent comedic reactions to unnecessarily complicated life hacks, was released within hours and has now voluntarily exited the United States. As of now, no official statement has been issued by Lame or his representatives.
The incident occurred amid the backdrop of renewed immigration enforcement actions under President Donald Trump’s administration, which recently introduced tighter measures targeting visa overstays and undocumented stay.
Despite the brief setback, Khaby’s massive global following and numerous brand collaborations — including being a UNICEF goodwill ambassador — continue to place him among the world’s most influential digital creators.
Authorities have clarified that no further legal action will be pursued, as the matter was resolved amicably and voluntarily.
