J&K Govt Hikes Dearness Allowance to 55% for Employees, Effective from January 2025

Srinagar, June 4 (JK Top News): In a major relief to government employees, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) from 53% to 55% of basic pay. The revised rates are effective from January 1, 2025, and will be applicable to all employees working under regular pay levels based on the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.

The announcement was made through Government Order No. 155-F of 2025 dated June 4, 2025, issued by the Finance Department (Codes Division). This revision is in continuation of an earlier order issued in January this year.

According to the order accessed by JK Top News, arrears from January to May 2025 will be paid in cash in June 2025, and the revised DA will become a part of the monthly salary from June onwards.

The order also clarifies that the term “Basic Pay” refers to the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the Pay Matrix and excludes special pay or allowances. It also states that any DA amount involving fractions of 50 paise and above will be rounded off to the next rupee.

The government has emphasized timely implementation of this revised DA hike for the benefit of its employees. The order was issued by Shailendra Kumar (IAS), Principal Secretary to the Government, Finance Department.
