Poonch/Rajouri, 21 May 2025: In a significant visit to the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha offered heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in unprovoked Pakistani shelling, and pledged immediate and long-term support for the affected civilians.

At a meeting with bereaved families in Poonch, LG Sinha announced a key relief measure, stating, “One member from the families of martyred civilians across Jammu & Kashmir will be provided a government job. Ex-gratia and relief have already been extended, and the Government of India is committed to further assistance.”

He assured the citizens that proper rehabilitation of the affected families is a top priority, and added that under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah, a comprehensive rehabilitation plan is underway.

The LG visited Dungus area, one of the worst-hit by recent shelling, to personally assess the ground situation. He later chaired a review meeting with senior administrative and district officials in Poonch to evaluate ongoing relief operations.

During his Poonch visit, LG Sinha also paid obeisance at the revered Gurudwara Dera Santpura Nangali Sahib and interacted with local citizens.

In Rajouri, the Lieutenant Governor met with families affected by heavy Pakistani firing and assured them of all possible support. He also visited GMC Rajouri to check on civilians injured in the attacks, expressing deep concern for their recovery: “I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in Pakistan’s shelling,” he said.
