Five Injured After Vehicle Skids Off Road in Anantnag

Anantnag, June 3: Five persons were injured in a road accident on Tuesday evening when an Alto car skidded off the road near Sinthan Top while travelling from Kishtwar to South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

According to officials, the vehicle reportedly lost control near the mountainous stretch of Sinthan Top, leading to the mishap. Local residents and authorities responded swiftly to the scene, providing initial assistance.

The injured were first shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Larnoo for immediate medical attention. Later, due to the severity of their injuries, all five were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for advanced treatment.

The injured have been identified as:

  • Mukther Ahmad Rather, son of Gh. Rasool Rather, resident of Verinag (driver)
  • Umer Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmad Rather, resident of Mominabad, Doru
  • Faizan Ahmad Shah, son of Abdul Rashid Shah, resident of Behibagh, Kulgam
  • Amir Ahmad Mir, son of Gh. Qadir Mir, resident of Kamar
  • Wasim Ahmad Shergojri, son of Mohd. Shaban Shergojri, resident of Nowgam, Verinag



Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated necessary legal proceedings. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Sinthan Top, though scenic, is known for its challenging road conditions, especially during changing weather and dusk hours.
