In a tragic road accident, an ex-serviceman lost his life while another person sustained injuries after their motorcycle skidded off the road in Mankote area of Mendhar, Poonch district, on Wednesday.
According to officials, the accident occurred near the Uchhad BSF camp when the motorcycle (bearing registration number JK12C-1152) lost control, veered off the road, and fell into a steep gorge.
The deceased has been identified as Choudhary Anzar Ahmad, son of Mohd Kabir and a resident of Dhargloon. Ahmad, an ex-serviceman, succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The pillion rider, Zulfikar Ahmad, son of Naziq Hussain and a resident of Kotan Mendhar, was critically injured in the mishap.
Dr. Ashfaq, BMO Mendhar, confirmed that the injured was initially brought to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Mendhar and later referred to GMC Rajouri for advanced medical care due to the severity of his condition.
The local police have registered the case and taken cognizance of the incident. Further investigation is underway.
