Jammu, 20 May 2025: Get ready for a significant change in weather across many districts of the Jammu region! The J&K Disaster Management Authority (JKUTDMA) has issued an urgent advisory warning of a strong spell of rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by powerful winds ranging from 40 to 60 KMPH, very likely to hit most places in the next 24 hours.

The districts specifically under alert include Doda, Jammu, Kathua, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Samba, and Udhampur.

This intense weather system carries a significant risk, particularly for areas prone to geological instability. The JKUTDMA has highlighted the possibility of landslides and mudslides at a few vulnerable places due to the heavy rainfall. Residents in hilly and low-lying areas are urged to be extra vigilant.

What to do:
* Stay Safe: Avoid unnecessary travel, especially through hilly or landslide-prone routes.
* Secure Loose Objects: Strong winds can cause damage, so secure any loose items around your homes and properties.
* Stay Informed: Keep an eye on local news and official weather updates.
* Emergency Contact: In case of any emergency, remember to Dial 112.

Your safety is paramount. The authorities are on alert, and it’s crucial for citizens to cooperate by taking necessary precautions. Stay indoors if possible and prioritize your well-being during this weather event.
