A school bus from Gharib Nawaz Education High School, Kalali, was involved in a road accident on Monday afternoon in the Manjakote area of Rajouri district, leaving three students injured.

According to local sources, the bus (registration number JK11G-2315) was ferrying students home when the driver reportedly lost control on a sharp curve, causing the vehicle to skid off the road. The mishap triggered panic among the local population and school authorities.

The incident has once again brought into focus the importance of regular vehicle inspections and safety protocols in school transport systems. Parents have urged authorities to conduct thorough checks and implement stricter safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Responding to an emergency alert received by a staff member at PHC Ghambir Mughalan, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Manjakote mobilized health teams in coordination with local police. Ambulances were immediately dispatched, and a swift, coordinated rescue operation was launched.

Three students sustained injuries in the accident and were promptly shifted to PHC Manjakote for medical treatment. The injured students have been identified as:

In addition to the students, Mohd Din (70), an elderly local resident, also suffered injuries and was referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri due to the severity of his condition. The bus driver also sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Speaking to JK Top News, SHO Manjakote, Inspector Imran Khan, confirmed that an FIR has been registered in the matter. He detailed that all the injured were first taken to PHC Manjakote and confirmed the referral of the elderly man to GMC Rajouri.

The accident has reignited concerns over the safety and roadworthiness of school transport vehicles in hilly terrains like Manjakote. Locals have called for stringent inspection protocols and better training for drivers to ensure student safety.
